Team Outlook: Strengths — For both Lansing squads at least four Lions return from last year’s state placing teams, meaning experience is a huge plus for this year’s group.
In fact, most of the team’s varsity members are either juniors or seniors, giving first-year coach Ed Fenton reason to feel good about Lansing’s leadership heading into the new season.
Weaknesses — While experience and leadership will be strong points for the Lions, both the girls and boys lost valuable anchors in Domanique Cary and Lori Angello to graduation.
“We’ll be looking for our new players to fill some pretty big shoes if we want to improve on our results from last year,” Fenton said of replacing the two Lansing alums.

Big meets: Jan. 24 at Olathe East; Jan. 28 at Mill Valley; Feb. 19 vs. Leavenworth; Feb. 22-23 at 5A regional meet

Coach says: “Having both squads place so well at state last year and having the majority of those players returning this year raises expectations for this season.
We have a nice group of hardworking kids and supportive parents here at Lansing with a tradition of doing well at state. I think we have a good opportunity to continue and maybe even improve upon our success there.”
