  • A man who was injured in an accident Friday night in southwest Leavenworth County left the scene without reporting the crash, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The 22-year-old rural McLouth was transported from the scene by his girlfriend and taken to the hospital. Authorities were able to locate him, according to the report.
The accident was reported a 11:31 p.m. Friday at Honeycreek Road and Dehoff Drive but is believed to have occurred a couple of hours earlier.
The man reportedly was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck west on Honeycreek Road. He lost control of the vehicle, which went into a ditch and then came to rest on top of a barbed wire fence, according to the report.
After authorities located the driver, he reportedly told deputies he hadn’t called 911 because he had a suspended driver’s license and the tags on the vehicle had been switched.
The truck was towed from the scene, and a hold was placed on the vehicle requiring proof of ownership.
