  • An Oskaloosa man was killed in a rollover accident Sunday morning in western Leavenworth County, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
Lee A. King, 25, had been a passenger in a 1993 Nissan pickup truck that went off the road at 251st and Ragtown Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was reported at 4:40 a.m. Sunday.
William J. Kelly III, 18, Topeka, was driving the pickup truck. He reportedly failed to negotiate a left turn from Ragtown Road onto 251st Street. The truck went off the road and rolled over in a ditch. The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side, according to the report.
The driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts. King was partially ejected out of the passenger window and became pinned between the ground and truck.
Kelly was checked by Leavenworth County EMS personnel for minor injuries.
Blood was drawn from the driver at a hospital. Leavenworth County Undersheriff Ron Cranor said the blood sample will be sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to check for intoxication.
Cranor said it likely will be awhile before the Sheriff’s Office receives the results.
