Harlan R. Stinson, 93, of Leavenworth, KS, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Harlan was born at home on March 22, 1919, in Wentworth, MO, to Albert Ray and Adah Lucinda Stinson.
Harlan was married to Kathleen Dorothy Anderson of Wentworth, MO, from December 24, 1941, until her death in 1997. On August 29, 2004, he married Enid Tankersley Morton of Leavenworth, KS.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Leavenworth, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, an Elder and choir member.
Harlan retired from civil service work in the mid 1980's, and then worked with a friend for 13 years, doing home repair and construction. He worked with Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed going on working mission trips, including his favorite trip to Honduras in 1992 to help build a community center. He also did trips in the US to help with the construction of other Christian Churches.
He fulfilled his lifelong dream of traveling to Israel in the mid 1990's.
Harlan is survived by his wife Enid, two daughters, Kay (Matlock) Maness, Lansing, KS, and Donna Langley, Prairie Village, KS; three grandchildren, Debbie and her husband Todd Seaman, Jefferson City, MO, Cappi and her husband Tony Criscione, Gladstone, MO, and Joe Langley, Prairie Village, KS; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Brittney, and Dannyelle Seaman; and one sister, Adalee Vaughn of Halsted, KS. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 9, 2012 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:30 at the First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Sarcoxie Cemetery, Sarcoxie MO.
