To the editor:
I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent the Second District of Kansas in the 113th Congress. I take this job very seriously, and will continue to make serving my constituents in Eastern Kansas my top priority.
Today we start fresh. There is a lot of work to do, and real progress can only be made when Democrats and Republicans work together. In my new post as the vice chair of the House Republican Conference, I am committed to help reduce gridlock in Washington, and help lead the team that will finally start digging America out of this fiscal mess.
America can no longer afford to wait to deal with Washington's spending problem. We have a tax code to fix, a budget to balance, and folks who need to get back to work. It is time to do the right thing. It is time to return our country to its proper place: a country that people across the world come to build a better future for themselves and their families and a country where our children have the promise of a better future unencumbered by debt.
