  • Police have made no arrests in connection to Friday’s armed robbery of a downtown Leavenworth business. But a more detailed description of the robber has been released.
The robber is said to be a tall, light-skinned black man with a thin build. He had long, straight black hair. He’s described as being in his late teens or early 20s.
His clothing included a denim jacket and black baseball cap with the word “Sonic” on it, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The robber reportedly approached a 55-year-old woman as she arrived Friday morning to open JoJo Dee’s Pets, 301 Cherokee St. The man was armed with a handgun. He entered the business with the woman and took money from the cash register, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.
The woman reportedly suffered minor injuries during the robbery. The suspect left the store on foot.
Nicodemus said police do not have any images of the suspect captured by surveillance cameras. He said police continue to work on the case.
Anyone with information about the robbery or suspect is asked to contact the Leavenworth Police Department’s Detective Division. The non-emergency number for the Police Department is 651-2260. People also can call the Police Department’s Clue Line at 682-CLUE, or 682-2583, to anonymously provide information.
