A woman was taken to the hospital following a head-on collision Thursday morning on Kansas 5 Highway, according to information from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported at 7 a.m. Thursday south of Tontine Road.
Natalee A. Kincaid, Kansas City, Kan., lost control of a 1994 Honda vehicle on K-5. Sheriff Andy Dedeke said there was black ice on the roadway.
The car struck a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck head-on. The truck was driven by Kelly Fireoved Jr., Basehor.
A 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck had been traveling behind the Honda. That truck’s driver, John C. Kylen, Louisburg, attempted to stop but struck the Honda, according to Dedeke.
Kincaid was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.
The other drivers were not injured. The Honda vehicle and Chevrolet
truck were towed from the scene, according to information from the Sheriff’s Office.
