Arnold G. Seifert, 74, of Hutchinson, formerly of Winchester, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at his home in Hutchinson. He was born December 11, 1938 at Valley Falls, the son of Charles Garrett and Eleanor Verle Stephens Seifert. He was a 1956 graduate of Lansing High School. He
attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated from Highland Community College. Arnold worked as a correctional officer over 35 years, retiring from the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth in 1995. During his 35 year career as a correctional officer, he had also worked at the Kansas State Prison in Lansing, the Hutchinson Correctional facility and the Kansas Honor Camp. He owned and operated Arnold's Small Engine Repair and Locksmith Service in Winchester from 1976 to 2003. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls and was a 40 year member of the Kansas Peace Officer's Association. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He served in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1966. He was married to Donna Jean Pierce on January 19, 1957 at Leavenworth, she survives in Hutchinson. Other survivors include, one daughter, Angela J. Seifert, Hutchinson, one sister, Charlotte (Mike) Sinclair, Oskaloosa, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Shannon Seifert, Ronnie Seifert and Charles Keith Seifert.
Grave Side Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday at the Plum Grove Cemetery, northeast of Oskaloosa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday at Barnett Family Funeral Home (1220 Walnut) in Oskaloosa. Memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association in care of the Funeral Home, P.O.
