The seventh seeded Pratt Greenbacks surprised just about everyone in St. John's Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic Thursday night, upsetting the second seeded Ness City Eagles in a close game, with Pratt taking a 19-12 first quarter lead and holding on for the 52-46 win.

It looked like the same thing "might" happen earlier in the second game of the night when the third seeded Macksville Mustangs tangled with the sixth seeded Larned Indians in a close one for three quarters. But in the last quarter, the Mustangs came alive, started making their layups in transition and pulled away from the Indians for a 62-44 victory.

The Nickerson Panthers dominated the Medicine Lodge Indians in Thursday night's consolation game, but not before Medicine knocked 11 points off the score in the last two quarters, the Panthers getting a 52-36 win.

On Friday in the winners bracket, top seeded St. John-Hudson bumps heads with Central Plains, the game starting at 6:30pm. while in the 8:15pm. game, Macksville plays Pratt.

In the consolation bracket on Friday, Ness City plays Larned at 4:45pm.
