The Leavenworth and Lansing boys’ swimming teams competed in the Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves Invitational Saturday.
At the competition, highlights for both squads came in the 100 breaststroke, where Pioneer Ryan Hill placed fifth and Lion Stephen Szmed was seventh.
In the 100 fly, Dion DePaolis captured eighth place and a state time for Lansing while Matt Holden did the same in the 100 backstroke. Leavenworth’s Clayton Gubler was 12th in the 100 back and Hunter Higgins was 14th.
The Lions 400 relay grouping of Jack Bresser, Matt Holden, Jake Hecht and Dion DePaolis set a new school record and in doing so placed eighth overall.
The Pioneer foursome of Cree Neibert, Duncan Robinnette, Zach Little John, Carsten Defore earned 12th in the same event.
Lansing’s Chase Martin posted a seventh place finish in the 500 free.
Both squads will meet again today when they host their second home meet in the last seven days at 3 p.m.
