  • Marvin R. Davis, 81, Leavenworth, KS passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Sweet Life Rosehill in Shawnee, KS. He was born June 13, 1931 in Decatur County, KS the youngest of eight children born to Lula Mae (Connell) and William Ora Davis.
    He attended grade school and high school in Almena, Kansas. He graduated in 1950 and received a basketball scholarship to Connor State Junior College at Warner, Oklahoma. The next year he attended Fort Hayes State College at Hayes, Kansas for one year. He was drafted by the Army and served 16 months in Korea in the 223D Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division.
    After discharge he moved to Denver, Colorado. While there he started his long career in the home improvement business. He started his own company manufacturing windows, awnings and patio coverings. It was bought out by Alsco of Colorado. He worked for Alsco as Vice President and General Manager. He left Alsco and started another company. He sold that company and moved to Kansas City in 1977. He remained in the home improvement business. He moved to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1983 as a business associate of Besel's.
    He is survived by his wife Lorainne of the home, his adopted son Perry (Linda) Davis, Novato, California, step-sons, John (Rachel) Henley, Shawnee, Kansas, James (Tara) Henley, Wentzville, Missouri, step-daughters, Michelle (Tom) Brennan, Cincinnati, Ohio and Angela Henley, Shawnee, Kansas, granddaughters, Isabella Henley and Morgan Henley, grandsons, Aaron and Jacob Davis, Nicholas Henley, Gabriel Henley and William Henley, sisters, Delphia Nowell, McCook, Nebraska, Mildred Carroll, Arkansas City, Kansas and Wava Markmann, Lenexa, Kansas, sister-in-laws, Avis Davis, Denver, Colorado and Margaret Adams, Scottsdale, Arizona, nine nieces and four nephews and their spouses.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clifford and George Davis, sisters, Merle Babb and Merna Wurm, brother-in-laws, Alan Babb, Bob Wurm, Jim Donovan, Gene Nowell, Al Adams, John and Robert Anderson.
    Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 11:00 a.m. till noon at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to The Sweet Life at Rosehill or St. Luke's Hospice.
