Entering the final quarter of play Saturday, the Leavenworth girls’ basketball team was eight minutes away from winning the Emporia Tournament.
Up 36-34, the Lady Pioneers just needed one more quality quarter to walk away with the Glacier's Edge Girls Basketball Tournament championship.
Instead, Topeka Seaman wore down Leavenworth’s defense enough to post 14 points. While doing that, LV went cold from the field and scored just five points down the stretch.
The end result was a 48-41 Leavenworth defeat.
The Lady Pioneers, 7-5, will look to bounce back tonight at Lawrence when the teams face off at 5:45 p.m.
