When they met Monday, Leavenworth school board members took the following action:

They approved payment to Pearson for training for teachers for new math materials. The cost of the training totals $78,000.

They approved a bid from American Roofing in the amount of $66,773 for roof work at Leavenworth High School. They also approved a bid from Delta Services in the amount of $151,974 for roof work at Earl M. Lawson Elementary School. The bids were approved with a vote of 6-1 with board member Nancy Klemp voting against the motion.

They voted down a motion made by Klemp to require that construction and maintenance projects and purchases of more than $20,000 be advertised in the newspaper. The motion was defeated 3-4 with Klemp, Mo Minchew and Loyal Torkelson voting for the measure.

They listened to an update about a long-range facility plan.

Minchew announced he didn’t file for another term on the school board because he missed the filing deadline by 30 minutes.
