Theresa Elaine Fields, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand mother, passed away on January 23rd, 2013. She was born on September 8th, 1929 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of George and Lucille Walker.
Theresa married her sweetheart, Charles F. Fields, Sr. on May 9th, 1948. During this marriage, Charles and Theresa raised six sons and one daughter. Charles passed away on May 24th, 2012. Charles and Theresa were married for over 65 years.
Theresa became a member of the Independent Baptist Church and remained an active and faithful member for over 50 years. She proudly served in various capacities including Church Secretary and Church Deaconess.
Theresa graduated from Holy Epiphany Catholic Elementary School in Leavenworth; attended Leavenworth High School; and graduated from Kansas Vocational School (KVS) in Topeka, Ks. During her time at KVS, she also worked in the Registrar's Office and sang in the School Chorus. Following graduation, Theresa attended Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Mo. and pledged the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Theresa worked in the Leavenworth school system for over 21 years, retiring in 1992. She also served many years as a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents.
Theresa leaves behind six sons; Charles Jr. (Connie)-Leavenworth: CW03 (USA-Retired) Steven Sr. (Jackie)-Lansing; Randall Sr. (Rosalind)-Leavenworth; Ronald-Leavenworth CDR (USN-Retired) Mark (Joyce)-Tuscaloosa, AL: LTC (USA-Retired) Douglas (Kathy)-Cooper City. FL; her only daughter. Cynthia-Henderson. NV: 14 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren, a loving cousin. Joe W. Oliver, Jr. and host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Independent Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Independent Baptist Church. Internment will immediately follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Against Family Violence, Leavenworth, Ks. or the American Cancer Society.
