With 10 of its starters out of the lineup, a shorthanded Leavenworth wrestling team faced Blue Valley Northwest Wednesday.
As to be expected, the results weren’t pretty — The Pioneers fell 66-15.
“It was mainly our junior varsity out there,” LV coach Jay Johnston said. “It was a million different reasons why with the Kansas’ point system, injuries and sickness just all hitting at once.
Two highlights from the evening came from two Leavenworth seniors. Both Tilden Edwards, at 160-pounds, and Jesse Colver (220) recorded pin wins on the night.
“Those guys did their usual thing,” Johnston said. “Overall, we knew it would be tough with 10 starters out, but with that said we gave up way too many pins tonight and that is unacceptable.”
Leavenworth will compete Saturday at the Silver Lake Invitation, which begins at 9 a.m.
