  • In busy fashion, the Saint Mary indoor track and field teams continued its season recently.
    After beginning the new year at the Johnson County Community Relays, where Karoline Banasik took second in the 800 meters, the squad traveled to Lincoln, Neb., for the Nebraska Wesleyan Quad Saturday.
    At the competition, Cory Waites won the 400 meters by one second and Jake McCurry came in second.
    The women were led by Karoline Banasik, who placed second in the 800 while Caroline Suarez earned fourth in the triple jump. Suarez was third in the same event at the JCCC relays.
    Finally, Nick Haines earned a qualifying time in the mile run to qualify for the 2013 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championship.
    The squads will be back in action Friday when USM participates in the KCAC Indoor Championship.
