It was a good day to be a Pioneer at the bowling lanes Thursday.
Hosting DeSoto, Blue Valley Southwest and Blue Valley West, the Leavenworth boys’ and girls’ teams strolled away from its competition as winners — each claiming first in their divisions.
The LV boys won 2,235 over DeSoto’s 2,093. Neither West nor Southwest fielded a boys’ squad. The Lady Pioneers’ 1,887 was more than enough to topple Southwest’s 1,544 and DeSoto’s 1,221. West did not have a varsity team compete.
“All and all it was a good day for us,” Leavenworth coach Shad Langfoss said. “For the boys, Levi (Denney) is still bowling really well and they continue to near that 2,400 team score I’m hoping for.
“On the girls’ side, Jessica Johnson really shot well. She is just getting better and better.”
Both the two Pioneers mentioned placed first overall within their competitions. For the LV boys, Denney shot a 622 series score while Eric Meade added a 546 and Nick Warf a 521. They each earned fourth and fifth.
Rounding out the squad was Jeremy Crowder knocking down a 497, Rob Trexler a 457 and Austin Wells a 370.
In the girls’ contest, Johnson’s 539 series allowed her the top spot. The next three highest girl bowlers were also Lady Pioneers — Mallory Scherer at 441, Darienne Watkins at 438 and Sabrina Sigmon at 433. Rebecka Clark hit a 393 and Dani Sigmon a 374.
Leavenworth will host its final meet of the year Monday at 3:30 p.m.
