Linda Schmidling-Butler
March 26, 1953 - February 3, 2013
Linda grew up on a beautiful farm in Leavenworth County, the daughter of
Donald F. and Elizabeth (Kisker) Schmidling. Her parents, and grandparents,
Leo and Cecelia Schmidling, provided an oasis where she and her five
siblings thrived. Patty Schmidling, Sherry Schmidling, Kathy Lynn Schaeffer,
Denise Elliott, and Dale Schmidling. Linda moved to Colorado Springs in
1971, and was very active in environmental issues, and was also the
co-founder of Holistic Net-Workers of Colorado Springs before moving to
Anchorage Alaska with her husband Brian Butler. In Alaska, her dream was to
operate a gardening business, and she created "Alaska Garden" while working
at Bell's Nursery. There are many gardens and yards in Anchorage that are
far more beautiful for having known her works. Her love of nature, family,
and others was a driving passion in her life. It all came through in her
gardening. Linda is well loved, and lived well. Her husband Brian, her
children; Nathan Gambrell, Rachel (Kris) Liddell, Daniel Gambrell, Kade
Butler, and her four grandchilren; Emily, Kelcie, Rylan, and Nathan,
provided the warmth and sunshine in her family garden. A memorial service
is planned March 26th in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
