  • A few months ago I went to Leavenworth's Goodwill Store to purge my son's toy closet. After dropping off my items, I decided to take a look around the store to see what was inside. I have to admit, I did not find a lot of items I liked, but after looking hard I was able to save a bundle on the few items I did find.
After digging through the racks, I discovered a Gymboree sweater for my son. This sweater would retail for around $30 brand new. However, I was able to get the sweater at the Goodwill store for under $2 and the sweater did look like it came right out of the Gymboree store.
However, my deals did not end with the sweater. I was able to pick up three more clothing items for my son. All four pieces of clothes that I purchased were under $10 and looked brand new and have made great outfits for my son to wear to church.
During other Goodwill shopping trips, I have found a sweater for myself and a winter church coat for myself and my daughter. All the items I have purchased look like they are brand new merchandise and you would not believe they came from a second-hand store.
I would encourage my readers to not be afraid to buy used. Do not be afraid to visit your local thrift stores, Goodwill Stores and consignment stores. You may not find something every single time. As in all simple living, great deals take patience, planning and perseverance. However, if you find the jewel in the haystack you will hit pay dirt.
