Honoring its seniors during the final home meet of the season, the Pioneer boys racked up 2,528 points to defeat Mill Valley (2,398) and DeSoto (2,347).
The Leavenworth girls’ squad came up short of first, finishing with a 1,706 series score while Mill Valley had a 1,738. DeSoto scored a 1,174.
“We were 33 pins shy in the varsity girls’ game from winning all four matches, varsity and JV, for the third straight meet,” LV coach Shad Langfoss. “They are starting to really hit their stride, the boys especially. Having three shoot better than 600 is very good.”
Levi Denney led the Pioneers in scoring with a 662 series, good enough for first overall individually. Nick Warf earned third with a 648 and Jeremy Crowder fourth with a 626.
Rounding out the boys’ scores were Austin Wells’ 570, Eric Meade’s 460 and Rob Trexler’s 388.
The Lady Pioneers saw Jessica Johnson posted a 433, good enough for second overall individually. Sabrina Sigmon’s 412 gave her third overall and Darienne Watkins took fourth at 409.
The rest were Mallory Scherer (400), Dani Sigmon (366) and Rebecka Clark (354).
Leavenworth will participate in the Sunflower League meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Lawrence.
