While it’s still under investigation, last week’s blaze at a vacant Leavenworth house is considered a “suspicious fire,” a Fire Department official said.
Leavenworth’s Acting Fire Chief Mark Nietzke said investigators of the Feb. 7 fire are still conducting interviews. And three debris samples from the scene have been sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for testing.
The fire was reported at 607 N. 12th St.
Fire Capt. Shawn Kell said a fire was discovered in the living room area of the house. And small fires were found in two other rooms. No injures were reported.
