Let’s do a little musing shall we. Important reminder — adult coed volleyball registration is quickly coming to an end. We had another great week of youth basketball. This week, I want to recognize all of our 1st-2nd grade coaches: Katie Campbell, James Colston, Derek Denney, Brandon Hildebrandt, Tremaine Miller, Walt Montgomery, Jeff Piche, Amy Potter, Jim Sloan, Greg Stone, Shawn Terry and Stacy Yeaton. These individuals have donated many hours of their time to work with our children. It has been amazing to observe the weekly improvements of each team. Huge kudos to each and every one of you for your patient efforts to make a child’s life enjoyable. Anyone who enjoys volleyball, would enjoy our adult women’s volleyball league. We had two more awesome matches this past Monday. Diggin’ It pushed the undefeated Drillers more than they have all year losing 25-13 and 25-6. Boom and Six Pack battled in two tough struggles with Boom surviving 25-22 and 25-23. As you can see, these are some great matches. I would encourage all of you volleyball lovers to get out to watch some of these exciting matches. The women play every Monday evening beginning at 6 p.m. and typically there are two matches per night. In Tuesday night adult men’s basketball, the Bomb Squad hit 15 3-pointers — 12 in the second half — as they cruised to an 88-65 victory. Mark May had 22 points and Harry Burton with six 3-pointers for 18 points led the Bomb Squad scoring while Aaron McLauren had 20 and Josh Fitch 19 for Zeck Ford. LV Street Elite, behind 15 points from Justin Crutchfield defeated Oh Yeah! Sam Kenyi scored 28 points in Prime Time’s 65-58 loss to Studdard, who was led in scoring by Justin Cathy’s 18. Check out the standings for Thursday night adult men's basketball. Mutual Savings has one loss and the other five teams only have two losses each at the midpoint of the season. Talk about exciting. This past Friday, in the first game of the evening, Young Sign Company edged the Wheaton Warbirds 67-65 in overtime. Jake Kavanaugh (Wheaton Warbirds) led all scorers with 36 while Joe Thorne paced the victors scoring with 20. 2711 defeated the Angry Ewoks 55-45 behind the 17 points of David Billard. Jordan Glenn scored 28 points in defeat. I want to take this one last opportunity to reach out and thank Coach Derek Zeck, his staff at Leavenworth High School and all of the players on the girls' basketball team at Leavenworth High School. They were absolutely phenomenal with all of our children in the Bitty Basketball program. Our little ones had the time of their young lives. The program was structured and well organized. I also want to thank the Leavenworth School District for allowing us to utilize David Brewer Elementary for the last two weeks of the program. The staff was extremely accommodating and the facilities were top-notch. Thank you all. Just a reminder, every Thursday, the Leavenworth Times publishes the standings of our adult leagues in their Scoreboard section of their sports page on B2. Be sure to check it out. I appreciate the support Brent Lager and the Leavenworth Times have provided our program since I came into this position.
