To the editor:
It's coming down to the wire in the battle for Secretary of Defense, and thanks to the continued pressure brought on by concerned citizens, we have enough votes in the Senate to stop the Hagel nomination.
Democrats are trying to ram through the Hagel nomination and rush to judgement without getting all the facts and documents from Hagel. Harry Reid already tried to cause panic by saying that America would be without a Secretary of Defense, but Leon Panetta already said he was staying in office until the Hagel issue is resolved.
Several senators who were on the fence, like Sen. John McCain had previously said they would not participate in a filibuster to stop Hagel, but after so much grassroots activity it looks like McCain and others are now willing to go along with the filibuster.
This latest news proves the strength of the grassroots pro-troop movement, and conservatives, to influence policymakers in Washington.
It shows that our efforts are having a measurable effect on this nomination process!
