Maria Eleonora (Müssner) Martin, 87 of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away February 17th, 2013.
Visitation will be Monday, February 25th, 2013 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and a rosary at 7:00 p.m. all at Belden Larkin Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father David McEvoy, O.Carm officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Maria was born September 17th, 1925 in Hötting (Innsbruck), State of Tyrol, Austria, the daughter of Johann Dominikus and Eleonora (Wimmer) Müssner, owner-proprietors Gasthof Frau Hitt (Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria).
She attended school in Innsbruck, Austria and graduated from Trade School.
Maria and her husband of 64 years, Lloyd J. Martin were married on October 13th, 1948 in Salzburg, Austria.
After a brief duty station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Maria and Lloyd moved to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1950.
Maria was a sixty-three year member of the Old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Prior to her marriage she worked as a salesperson. The love of her life was as mother and homemaker to her family within which she cultivated an atmosphere of gemütlichkeit She loved sewing, knitting, baking, crocheting, gardening and watching American football. She was known for her baked goods and will be remembered for her annual baking marathon of tens of dozens of Christmas cookies from traditional Austrian recipes. She was very active in her children's school organizations and activities. She was a member of the Old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd J. Martin, two sons; Robert G. Martin of Leavenworth, KS, and Patrick D. Martin and his wife Katie of Leonardtown, Maryland, one daughter; Patricia J. Shamley and her husband Bob of East Wenatchee, Washington, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Wilhelmina Spörl of Dornbirn, State of Vorarlberg, Austria.
She was preceded in death by one son; Michael J. Martin.
