Two people were taken to the hospital after a train struck a car Thursday in Platte County, Mo., according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday at Missouri 45 Highway and 45 Spur.
Initial indications are that the vehicle was driven around barricades at the tracks and got stuck on the tracks because of wet snow, according to the release from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
The two occupants of the car suffered head injuries and were transported to hospitals by ambulance.
The roads in the area were treacherous and Platte County Public Works personnel responded to the scene. They cleared a path for the ambulances to get to the scene and then back to I-435, according to the release.
