  • The League of Women Voters of Leavenworth County will be sponsoring forums next month for candidates in local municipal and school board elections.

  • The League of Women Voters of Leavenworth County will be sponsoring forums next month for candidates in local municipal and school board elections.
    The events are free and open to the public.
    The first forum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 12 at Lansing City Hall, 800 First Terrace. This forum will feature candidates for the Lansing Board of Education.
    At the end of the forum, candidates for Lansing City Council, who are running unopposed, will be invited to speak, according to Cindy McGuire, secretary for the League of Women Voters of Leavenworth County.
    The next forum will be at 7:30 p.m. March 13 at Leavenworth City Hall, 100 N. Fifth St. This forum will feature candidates for the Leavenworth City Commission.
    The final forum will be at 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Leavenworth City Hall. This will feature candidates for the Leavenworth Board of Education.
    McGuire said the League of Women Voters of Leavenworth County’s president, Lisa Weakley, is a candidate for the Leavenworth City Commission and will not be participating in the forums other than as a candidate.
