With a 688 series total, Lion John Bredehoeft earns sixth overall
While the Lansing bowling teams didn't walk away with the ultimate prize Thursday, they definitely did not go home empty-handed.
Competing at the Class 5A state meet in Wichita, the Lions boys' squad finished fourth behind a score of 2,574.
John Bredehoeft was Lansing's top bowler with his 688 series mark, good enough for sixth overall.
In the girls' division, the Lady Lions came in eighth at 2,009. Amber Ketchum was the team's best bowler when she captured 31st place thanks to a 541 series mark.
“Mixed-emotions for sure,” Lansing coach Ed Fenton said. “I was excited for the girls because they are all coming back next year. Today, they finished with one of their better outings and it was a good stepping stone to next season.”
Other individual Lansing results from the championship meet included Bryan Courtney nabbing 25th (608), Austin Reynolds 31st (597) and Brad Brown 41st (571). CJ Perez's 553 gave him 52nd and Thad Marshall hit a 531 for 60th.
“With the boys, we are going to miss this year's seniors,” Fenton said. “We came up just a little short this morning, eight pins out of second, but overall we had a pretty good day. Really, it was a pretty good year.”
After Ketchum, Katelyn Tollefson was spotted at 43rd on the back of a 510 series, Natasha Kern at 50th with a 475 and Dallas Castillo at 53rd with a 471.
Rachel Forbach was 65th due to her 430 tally and Emily Smith 72nd with a 350.
Leavenworth had a lone representative, Danielle Sigmon, who seized 63rd thanks to her 443 series total.
