  • Though the season ended far too early to his liking, Wednesday represented a nice consolation for Saint Mary's Jordan Wilcox.
That's because the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2012-13 Division II Men's Basketball All-American teams, which included the senior guard from Holcomb, Kan.
Wilcox was named to the NAIA Division II All-American third-team for his outstanding performance this past season.
“It’s a great honor for Jordan,” USM coach Jon Bishop said. “It’s something that he definitely earned this year. Jordan was our best player from day one and continued that play all the way through the season.”
The Spire can add the accolade to his others from this year ― Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the year as well as first-team KCAC. Wilcox averaged 14 points per game, shot 40 percent from the field and hit 41 percent of his 3-pointers.
“So many times this season Jordan made big plays and hit big shots for us to be successful,” Bishop said. “That’s something guys who end up being All-Americans do for their teams. I’m both extremely proud and happy for him to be named to this team.”
