  • Two people went to the hospital following a collision Sunday afternoon in downtown Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.
The accident was reported at 4:28 p.m. Sunday at Seventh and Cherokee streets.
A 58-year-old Easton man was driving west on Cherokee Street in a 2003 Ford F-150 truck when he allegedly ran a red light. The truck collided with a southbound 2010 Nissan vehicle. The Nissan was driven by a 55-year-old Leavenworth County woman, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
A 16-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Nissan, complained of a head injury. She was checked at the scene by Leavenworth County EMS personnel. She was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, Nicodemus said.
A 56-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Ford F-150, was transported to the hospital by EMS because of a back injury. Nicodemus said it appears the accident had aggravated a pre-existing condition.
The driver of the Ford F-150 was cited for allegedly failing to stop for the red light and not having proof of insurance.
