  • Two Leavenworth men were stabbed Sunday night during an altercation, a police spokesman said.
The men's injuries are serious but not considered life-threatening at this time. Another person suffered injuries during the altercation but was not stabbed, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
No arrests have been made. Nicodemus said police believe they have identified the person who committed the stabbing but are not ready to release information about this person's identity.
The deputy chief said Monday that police continued to investigate what happened.
"We're still trying to sort out the exact circumstances of what happened," he said.
The incident was reported around 10 p.m. Sunday after the two stabbing victims, ages 25 and 22, were taken to hospital by a friend. The two men apparently had been stabbed in the 700 block of Silverleaf Street.
The 25-year-old man was stabbed at least once with a knife. The 22-year-old man had several stab wounds, Nicodemus said.
Police also learned a 47-year-old man who lives at that location was injured. Nicodemus said the man had abrasions, bruises and possible fractures. He was transported from the scene to the hospital by Leavenworth County EMS.
Nicodemus said police believe more than three people were involved in the altercation.
"We haven't talked to everybody who was involved or present," he said.
