The Leavenworth Times - Leavenworth, KS
  • More is better for Immaculata golf

  • Roster expansion should boost Raiders' results heading into new season
    • email print
  • Team: Immaculata golf
    Coach: Mike Williams
    Key returnees:
    * senior Meghan Williams

    * sophomore Brock Horosko
    Newcomers to watch:
    * freshman Dawson Schroeder
    Team Outlook: STRENGTHS — Numbers are up in 2013 for the Raiders, as this year's squad will boast eight competitors.
    The increase will not only help the team's overall results, but also add depth to the program.
    WEAKNESSES — Though participation has grown, inexperience will be the biggest problem for Imac heading into the year.
    A lot of fresh faces will see varsity competition for the first time in 2013
    Big meets: At Holton Invitational April 8; At Horton Invitational April 15; Home JV Invitational April 18
    Coach says: "Having more golfers on the team this year should enhance the spirit of competition among the players and allow us to field a higher quality squad.
    "But, even though the numbers are up, there is still significant inexperience among several of the golfers.
    "However, attitudes are great, they display a diligent work ethic and are willing to learn, and I expect to see vast improvement as the season progresses."
