  • To the editor:
The Rotary Club of Leavenworth would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the wonderful support of our 33d annual Irish Stew Dinner/Silent Auction event last week.
The event was very successful thanks to many folks throughout the community.
First, thank you to the Leavenworth Times for publishing a Q5 article the Saturday before the dinner and to the local area businesses who helped to advertise this event. Without their continued support, many folks would not have known about our event.
Second, thanks to the staff at the Riverfront Community Center who did an awesome job with setup and cleanup. In addition, thank you to the Riverfront Community Center caterer, Cedar Ridge Restaurant, for allowing Rotarians to utilize the kitchen on event day. Without the use of the kitchen (and some of your tools), this event would have never been possible. And, special thanks to the Saint Casimir Parish for allowing our Rotarians to gather in their Parish hall kitchen to prepare the food for cooking. The staff at the VA Cafeteria did a great job cooking the Irish stew (it was, as usual, delicious (thank you))!
Last but not least, many, many thanks to those in the community who came out and joined us for our traditional Saint Patrick's Day Feast. As a result of the support of family and friends of Rotarians and the community, the Rotary Club of Leavenworth raised more than $4,000. These funds will be used to support community projects, primarily our scholarship program which allows the Rotary Club of Leavenworth to award scholarships to several high school seniors from local area high schools. This ensures they have monetary assistance to further their education at a college or vocational training school.
Without the help and assistance of everyone mentioned above and our extra special volunteers who helped before, during and after, this event would not have been such a success. A great big round of applause goes out to each of you who were involved with our Irish stew and silent auction ...many thanks again; we look forward to seeing everyone at our next event!
