* Mikayla Zielinski, infielder/outfielder; 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored last season
* McKenzie Hersh, pitcher/infielder/outfielder; 1.88 ERA and five wins last year
Team Outlook: STRENGTHS — With this year's current wave of seniors, the Lady Lions enjoy a wealth of leadership and chemistry, which the club hopes pays off in the win column.
“I see some great leadership skills in the players this year,” Chapple said. “The team this year is hardworking and willing to keep getting better.”
WEAKNESSES — Though this season's upperclass crop is large, Lansing did lose several all-league contributors from 2012's squad.
Big games: At Aquinas April 4; Versus Basehor April 23; Versus Mill Valley April 30
Coach says: “We have almost a whole new team for our varsity squad this year.
“These girls have been waiting to get a shot at varsity and the waiting has really made them hungry.
“We also have a great nucleus of girls that have been playing ball with each other for many years. I believe we have some great leadership to guide the team.”
