To the editor:
Remember when our school district was compared to Shawnee Mission not Kansas City, Mo.?
Remember when our kids were learning and our teachers were happy and allowed to teach as they were trained to do?
Remember when our school taxes were not one of the highest in the state?
Remember when the majority of the school board worked together for the good of our school district, not just their own narrow views?
Remember when few or none of our school families transferred their school-aged children to neighboring school districts or home schooled?
Remember when the board president listened to all members and the public, not just his or her cronies?
Remember when the number of high paid administers was low and student achievement was high?
Remember when we were all proud of our high performing school district and the envy of others?
Remember when the administration lived in Leavenworth and sent their own children to our public or parochial schools?
As you reminisce then you will also remember that Doug Darling and Mike Carney were on the board during those good times.
Such good memories can return if we elect Mike Carney and Doug Darling on April 2. Any others will keep us in the status quo which we must and can avoid.
