  • To the editor:
I just want to thank Leavenworth city commissioner Mark Preisinger for proposing a tough new anti-littering ordinance for our city.
Our community will certainly benefit from this effort to curb the trash and garbage that ends up in front of our homes due to thoughtless people that literally clean out their cars as they drive down our streets. This needs to stop. The perpetrators need to change their behavior or face a tough fine. Personally, I am tired of cleaning up the fast food bags, garbage, beer bottles, and dirty diapers that are tossed out on my property by these two-legged pigs with no upbringing.
I am sure that I am not alone in my disgust. Ask any of the civic minded volunteers that walk along our roads ways cleaning up others trash. I am sure that they could add to the conversation. They would be first to tell us that if we as a city plan on attracting quality people to move into our community we need to promote an image that we take pride in where we live. Commissioner Preisinger's ordinance is a solid step forward in cleaning up the image of our community.
Let us all contact our Leavenworth city commissioners and thank them personally for supporting this ordinance to be voted on April 9.
