A Leavenworth man was arrested for an alleged firearms violation following a report of a disturbance, a police spokesman said.
The disturbance initially was reported at 2:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue.
Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said the police received several calls about the incident, and callers started to relay information that one of the people involved had a gun.
Police arrived and made contact with parties involved. It was learned that a 20-year-old man reportedly had been in possession of a .38 caliber revolver. The man allegedly tried to discard the firearm on a porch of a residence in the area.
Nicodemus said the man, who previously was convicted of a felony, was arrested for allegations of criminal possession of a firearm and violating parole.
Nicodemus said no other crimes were alleged in connection to the disturbance, which apparently involved two other people and had been going on throughout the day.
