Beloved mother, daughter, and sister, Jennifer Flanagan LaVere, 36, passed away peacefully, March 31, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by family.
Beloved mother, daughter, and sister, Jennifer Flanagan LaVere, 36, passed away peacefully, March 31, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by family. Jennifer was born March 29, 1977, in Tulsa, Okla. She was joyfully welcomed by her adoptive parents, Jim and Janice Flanagan on May 13, 1977.
Jennifer attended Lansing schools from kindergarten through high school. She participated in many school activities; cheerleading in middle school, she was a part of the Lionettes and the golf team in high school. Jennifer excelled in music and participated for seven years in band. She was selected to be a Drum Major her senior year. After high school Jenny entered the Army and went through basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo., and became a member of the 312th Army Band in Lawrence, Kan. In the fall she attended K-State and was a member of the K-State Marching band. Jennifer received an Associates degree in Science from Kansas City Kansas Community College. She worked for many years as a Pharmacy Technician at Holst Pharmacy, CMOP and the Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Jennifer leaves behind her children, Zach and Audrey LaVere; her parents, Jim and Janice Flanagan; a sister, Missy Ann, of the home; and sons Seth and Preston Harper of Winchester, Kan.
Jennifer had the opportunity to meet her birth mother, Natalie Jane Neuman, and enjoyed the reunion and welcomed her into her life with the same loving spirit she exhibited her whole life.
Jennifer fought a long and courageous battle against cancer with dignity and grace to the very end. We would like to thank Dr. Kahn and the entire staff at the KU Cancer Center for their dedication and support of Jenny. Their professionalism, thoughtfulness and kindness were greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, Thursday, April 4, 2013. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will begin Friday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church. Inurnment at Mount Calvary Cemetery followed by a funeral luncheon at St. Francis de Sales. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the KU Cancer Center.
