The two official candidates for the Leavenworth Waterworks Board won seats on the body Tuesday, with one open seat to be determined at the county's canvass next week.
Teresa Wood, who has served on the board since being appointed to fill an unexpired term in summer 2012, was elected to a four-year term with 1,345 votes.
Richard Gervasini, who also at one point had filled an unexpired term on the board, won the second-most votes, with 1,222.
However, County Clerk Janet Klasinski said three spots were open on the board. President of Lexeco Inc., Greg Kaaz, mounted a last-minute write-in campaign for the seat. How successful that effort was would be determined when the votes are canvassed Monday, Klasinski said, but there were 378 write-in votes cast in the race.
