  • Following a scoreless half, the goals came rather quickly for Lansing Tuesday.
Jenna Hinckley recorded two strikes midway through the second half of a goal-deprived game, and Ashley Wilcox added another 10 minutes later.
The offensive outpouring allowed the Lady Lions soccer team to walk away with a 3-1 win over visiting Topeka Seaman.
“We are playing well right now,” Lansing coach Billy Dillon said. “We are still trying to collect ourselves as an entire group in some areas, which has led to some coaching points here and there, but for the most part we are playing well.”
The Lady Lions, 2-0, will play at Ottawa 6 p.m. Thursday.
    Three quick goals sink Leavenworth
Ten minutes in and the Leavenworth girls' soccer team was down 3-0.
The squad found its footing after that, though eventually wore down to its hosts Shawnee Mission North. Following four more goals, the Lady Pioneers lost 7-0 Tuesday.
“They had a pretty good team and were real quick,” LV coach Ken Lott said. “They had a lot of attacking momentum, but I was pretty happy with our defensive play. Now, we need to find ourselves offensively.”
Leavenworth, 0-3, will host Topeka at 7 p.m. Friday.
