Leavenworth goes winless; Imac doubles team takes silver.
It was a tough day for the Leavenworth boys tennis squad Tuesday,
"I thought today would be a good day to get some wins," Leavenworth tennis coach Shad Langfoss said. "Unfortunately it didn't work out for our team."
Hosting Shawnee Mission North the Pioneers failed to muster up one win in any of the teams matches.
Micheal Rielly was the team's best showing losing in singles 8-6. Josh Bernard lost in singles 8-5. Wes Barbee and Ben Schatzel both fell in singles 8-3 Garett Seager lost in singles 8-2 and Nick Valledor lost 8-1. Both Luke Nolte and Cole Shepard lost 8-0 in singles.
The squad did not fair any better in doubles. Rilly and Bernard lost 8-4, Barbee and Seager 8-3, Nolte and Shepard lost 8-2, and Valledor and Schatzel lost 8-1
Leavenworth will play at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Bonner Springs Invitational.
Imac doubles takes second
The Immaculata doubles team of James Cha and Phillip Hernandez took home silver in a five-team invitational at Topeka Hayden Wednesday. Cha and Hernandez went 3-1 on the day.
In singles, Raider Sam Rhee beat his opponent from St. James Academy. Imac lost the rest of their singles matches.
The Raiders play this Saturday in the Neodesha Invitational.
