The Leavenworth lady swimmers hit the pool short-handed Friday and coming off a meet the previous night in Topeka, so it's not a big surprise they didn't make waves at the scorer's table at Olathe East.
"Half the team is at the Power Lifting Nationals, and the other half is exhausted after two meets in two days," girls swimming coach Josh Padilla said. "Now we get a well-deserved rest."
The individual highlight Friday was Mary Claire Peterson swimming her personal best in the 100 Freestyle. She finished with a time of 1:10:67.
"For her to get her personal best after swimming just last night is really awesome," Padilla said.
With just seven swimmers competing against other squads with forty swimmers, Leavenworth didn't come home with team honors, but coach Padilla is still impressed with the group.
"They continue to push forward and come out swinging," he said. "We've got a way to go, but they are making strides in the right direction every practice and every meet."
The Lady Pioneer swimmers will get a break before preparing to compete April 16th at Lawrence High School.
