The horror movie, which stars Suburgatory's Jane Levy, Lou Taylor Pucci and Cult's Jessica Lucas, is a remake of the 1983 cult classic that catapulted Bruce Campbell's career.

Tying for the No. 2 spot was G.I. Joe: Retaliation and The Croods, which both grossed $21.1 million.

Coming in fourth place with $18.2 million was the revamped 3-D version of the '93 hit Jurassic Park. To date, the Steven Spielberg picture has grossed $375.3 million domestically.
