A stabbing victim showed up at a local hospital over the weekend. But he left when he learned authorities were on their way to speak with him, according to a police officials.
The man later turned up at another hospital but left before police could speak with him up there.
Leavenworth police initially were called to Saint John Hospital for a report of the stabbing victim, who's been identified as a 19-year-old Lansing man. The report came in at 5:19 a.m. Saturday. The man fled from the hospital when he found out police had been called, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The man reportedly had injuries to his leg. Nicodemus said authorities believe the stabbing may have occurred in Lansing, and the Lansing police were notified.
Lansing Police Chief Steve Wayman said the stabbing victim apparently later went to a hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., but again left to avoid speaking with police.
Wayman said the victim apparently was accompanied by the suspect in the case.
