  • Lt. Col. Rodney L. “Rod” Fausett, age 56, of Lansing, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, from the results of a motorcycle accident.

  • Lt. Col. Rodney L. "Rod" Fausett, age 56, of Lansing, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, from the results of a motorcycle accident.
    Funeral services for Lieutenant Colonel Rodney L. Fausett will be Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Victory Christian Center in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. with Pastor Dar Blanshan officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery with military honors.
    Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd.
    Rod was born June 12, 1957 in Carson City, Mich., to Russell and Shirley (Morey) Fausett. He graduated from Shepherd High School and Michigan Technical Institute in Houghton, Mich., where he was a member of the ROTC. Following graduation from Michigan Tech., he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He received his Masters Degree while he was stationed in Florida. Rod retired from the Army after 25 years of service as a lieutenant colonel in 2007. After retiring from the military, he continued working as a civilian contractor for the military. From 2007 to 2008, he was the Senior Maintence Branch Manager for Vinnell Arabia. From 2008 to 2011, he was the Operations Military Analysis for L3 MPOI. Currently, he was the Operational Contracting Support Analysis for Northrup Grumman Technical Services.
    Rod is survived by his three children, Sarah Fausett, of Durham, N.C., Jenna Fausett, of Leavenworth, Kan., and Matthew Fausett, of Lansing, Kan., his mother, Shirley Fausett, of Remus, two sisters, Beth (John) Watson, of Crystal, Barb (Jack) Pittwood of Hemlock, and three brothers, Greg (Brenda) Fausett, of Grand Rapids, Brian (Peri) Fausett, of Shepherd, and Tim Fausett, of Clarkston, numerous nieces and nephews.
    Memorials may be given to the Intrepid Fallen Hero's Fund.
    There will also be a memorial service held at a later date in Leavenworth, Kan.
