  • Though his team had just suffered a three-run loss, Leavenworth baseball coach Joe Allison was more than complimentary of their performance Tuesday.
“By far our best game of the season,” the Pioneers coach said. “Real efficient play by both teams, no errors, and we actually got done in nearly an hour.”
The boys in blue went toe-to-toe with host Lawrence before losing 3-0.
“You could tell we haven't seen a lot of live pitching,” Allison said of his team, who mustered just three hits. “And you could they had been on the field a lot more. But I was just real impressed with how well our kids played.”
“Defensively, we are in mid-season form. We just got to get the bats going.”
Judson Cole suffered the pitching loss, allowing one run in the first and two in the sixth. He did fan four.
Offensively, Eli Keppler went 2-for-3 and Kyle Pangracs had the other hit for LV.
The Pioneers, 2-2, will host Topeka Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
