  • Through wintery conditions on Thursday, the Pleasant Ridge track team battled late into the evening.
Thanks to that determination, both the PR boys' and girls' squads clinched fifth overall in the Travis Sheely Invitational at Northern Heights.
“I was really proud of the kids,” PR coach Glenda Connelly said. “They really had to battle the elements — cold, windy and wet.”
Individual Pleasant Ridge results included Grace McKinney winning second in the 800 meters. Nicole Holden was third in the 300 hurdles and Oleta McCaully was fourth in the javelin.
April Lingenfelser acquired fifth in the shot put while Nicole Holden (long jump, 100 meters) and Bailey Swinford (triple jump) both got sixth place medals.
The 4x800 relay team of Carly Simonis, Haley Worthington, Rachel Hattok and Kristina Silvers placed second and the 4x100 relay of Kaitlyn DeMaranville, Grace McKinney, Kimberley Barber and Holden came in third.
Lastly, the 4x400 quartet of Simonis, McCaully, Worthington and McKinney nailed down fourth.
For the boys, Kyle Lansing was first in the triple jump as was Tony Weber in the 3,200 meters. Weber was second in the 1,600 meters and Blake Graham came in fourth during the long jump. Lansing also got fourth in the high jump.
Nick Holmes snatched fifth in the triple jump as well as sixth in the long jump.
The 4x100 relay grouping of Graham, Lansing, Nick Holmes and Matt Souza earned second while the 4x800 foursome of Nate Tatershall, Chris Kell, Dustin Doerr and Jagar Haack came in fifth place.
