  • During its annual boys' tennis tournament Tuesday, Leavenworth saw its No. 2 doubles duo put together the team's best performance of the day.
After finishing the competition 2-1 overall, Michael Rielly and Austin Wiley were awarded second place.
“They seem to be hitting together pretty good lately,” LV coach Shad Langfoss said of the pair. “They are starting to get better at attacking the net, which has been a key for me.”
The rest of the Pioneer participants all reported 1-2 records at the tourney. In the No. 1 doubles bracket,
Wesley Barbee and Garett Seeger finished sixth, as did Nick Valledor (No. 2 singles) and Josh Bernard (No. 3 singles).
No. 1 singles Ben Schatzel was given 7th due to point total tiebreakers.
Leavenworth will compete at the Lawrence Invite at 3 p.m. Friday.
