  • Repeatedly, the Lansing girls' soccer team tried to build up an offensive attack against visiting Blue Valley Friday.
However, the Lady Lions lacked the needed ball possession to stage such surges. The dearth of ball control seeped into its defensive ranks, allowing the visitors to stack up goals.
After 80 minutes of play, Blue Valley recorded six scores to walk away with a 6-0 win.
“Our inability to control the ball during the game really hurt us as we tried to keep their threats down,” Lansing coach Billy Dillon said. “We could move the ball, but the inability to control it was our problem.”
Lansing, 5-3, will play at Basehor at 6 p.m. Monday.
“Ball possession is the key,” Dillon said. “We are not a bad passing team, but we just don't keep possession long enough and that is enabling other teams to build attack after attack on us. We have to fix it.”
