Some days the opponent is simply better.
On Tuesday, that was the case for the Lansing softball team. Hosting Mill Valley, the Lady Lions were swept, 18-0 and 16-2, in quick fashion.
“Mill Valley put together a great team this year,” Lansing coach Valerie Chapple said. “They were hitting the gaps with line drives all day. We played better than the previous day, but they are just a solid team.”
Lansing is scheduled to host Piper Thursday starting at 4 p.m.

Ridge girls split at Troy
The Pleasant Ridge softball team left Troy Tuesday with mixed results.
In game one, the Lady Rams won 7-2 while contest No. 2 saw Troy answer back with a 16-10 win.
“Even though we won the first game, we were still kind of lackadaisical and that showed up in the second game,” PR coach Chris Robinson said. “We just got to get our focus back before Thursday's game.”
Shyanne Robinson had two home runs on the day while Alexis Amos stroked one.
Cheyenne Owens recorded the lone pitching win.
PR, 9-5, will be at Valley Falls Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
