Rams win again at home while Lansing experiences two defeats

Two more games, two more wins for the Lady Rams softball team.

Behind a plethora of hits and walks on Tuesday, Pleasant Ridge dispatched Doniphan West 17-2 and 19-4.

“We played really good,” PR coach Chris Robinson said. “The girls came out with enthusiasm, were ready to play and it showed.”

Sarah Wagner won game one on the mound while 1-for-1 showings from Shannon Brown and Abby Reed helped PR capitalize on a boat load of walks.

Game two went to Cheyenna Owens while Alyssa Crook's 4-for-4 and Shayanne Robinson's 3-for-3 efforts paced the offense.

“We didn't make any mental errors, fielding errors and just played real sharp,” coach Robinson said. “I think they are ready for regionals.”

Pleasant Ridge, 13-5, awaits its regional fate, which will come later this week.

Lansing swept by Piper
The Lansing softball team scored runs Tuesday, just not enough.

Visiting Piper was able to edge out the Lady Lions 13-6 and 14-12 for the two-game sweep.

“We played more like ourselves in the second game,” Lansing coach Valerie Chapple said. “We showed a lot of heart and we were up most of the game, just let it slip in the sixth and couldn't bounce back.”

Chapple highlighted Sierra Rettele, who had several big hits, and Shannon Daze, for her consistency, as the team's two offensive standouts.

“We had a lot people step up in that second game, but those two led us,” the coach said.

Lansing, 3-15, will be at Bishop Ward today for a 4 p.m. contest.
